Compagnie l’Anthéridie
Antheridia is a mother cell of antherozoides
(gamete male of plants, spermatozoon). When it reaches maturity, it liberates its seeds. So, it’s a cell which enables pollen production : sensations, pictures, ideas, reflexions, a different point of view. Everyone is free to impregnate these.
The company was created in December 2004 by Lucile Hannesse. It is based in Charleville-Mézières in France(near Belgium).
We have two ways : a transcendant and a social engagement. The social engagement is very important for us in our shows, as well as in the relation with the spectators - we go to villages, to towns in difficult places, we give pedagogic workshops and create some artistic and welcoming sites. The stage is a public space. So the shows are political – in a large meaning of this word, public and social. They question, without giving answers, because the artist is not here to convince. His rule is to hustle certitudes in order that every act might be – as much as possible – the result of a personal decision.
The reshearal of transcendence is the basis and the root of art. It is also the goal. We know that, in France, lots of people will not like these proposals because of the difficult relation between artists and the Catholic religion. But we don’t have to confound the sacred and the social organisation of religions. The transcendental transcends religions, it can be called God, Beauty, Union, Harmony, something larger than human, something which can bring humans together, and humans with the divine. But here too, we don’t want to impose anything, we want just live to and feel on the stage. The spectators can have differents views : psychological, mythological, social or/and religious. We also like to create in cultural and convivial places like we did in « Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnette » (the worlds puppets festival) in 2006 and soon between 18 and 27 september 2009. On these occasions we present shows and plastic installations and we propose a small biological and vegetarian meal.
